The EHS Specialist will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining environmental, health, and safety programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and to create a safe and healthy workplace environment in the nail polish manufacturing industry.
Responsibilities:
Regulatory Compliance:
Stay abreast of local, state, and federal environmental, health, and safety regulations applicable to the nail polish industry.
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, permits, and reporting obligations.
Hazardous Materials Management:
Oversee the proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials used in the production of nail polish.
Implement and monitor safety protocols for handling and transporting chemicals.
Air Quality and Emissions:
Develop and implement programs to monitor and control air emissions from manufacturing processes.
Collaborate with relevant departments to minimize environmental impact.
Occupational Health and Safety:
Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments in the manufacturing facility.
Develop and enforce safety policies and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries.
Emergency Response Planning:
Develop and maintain emergency response plans for potential incidents, including spills, fires, and other emergencies.
Conduct regular drills and training sessions for employees.
Employee Training:
Provide annual training on Injury & Illness Training Program, safety practices, HAZCOM, Disaster Recovery and Emergency Response procedures.
Ensure that all employees are aware of and adhere to safety protocols.
Waste Management:
Implement and manage waste reduction and recycling programs.
Ensure proper disposal of waste materials in accordance with regulations.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, and corrective actions.
Prepare and submit regulatory reports as required.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field.
Professional certification in EHS (e.
g.
, Certified Safety Professional, Certified Industrial Hygienist) is a plus.
Experience in the chemical manufacturing industry, preferably in nail polish production.
Strong knowledge of environmental regulations, safety standards, and best practices.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
